Current Release: Version 8.2
Process engineers benefit from computational facilities to perform all mass and energy balance calculations needed to model most steady-state processes within the chemical, petroleum, natural gas, solids processing and polymer industries. PRO/II runs in an interactive Windows®-based GUI environment.
Simulation Applications:
- Design new processes
- Evaluate alternate plant configurations
- Modernize and revamp existing plants
- Assess, document and comply with environmental regulations
- Troubleshoot and debottleneck plant processes
- Monitor, optimize and improve plant yields and profitability
What's New in PRO/II?
Enhanced Handling of Heavy Oils
Simulation software has traditionally been developed to model conventional oils. This normally would pose a problem, but IPS and PRO/II are active in the heavy oils industry and committed to developing additional capabilities that expand our services within this important market.
As part of this commitment, PRO/II has improved its methodologies for handling heavy oils. It has a characterization option for heavy oils that extrapolates critical properties and molecular weight of petroleum components with normal boiling points well beyond 1000 K. PRO/II also has a new liquid viscosity prediction method that prevents the viscosity from being skewed by the heaviest petroleum component. Together, these new methodologies give PRO/II a distinct advantage in modeling heavy oils.
Updated SIM4ME Thermo with PROPRED
PROPRED generates pure component properties based on a multilevel group contribution method developed by Marrero and Gani. The integration with SIM4ME thermo allows the properties generated by PROPRED to be used in PRO/II. PROPRED bases the property estimation automatically performed on molecular structure drawn by the user.
Mixed Solvent Electrolyte (MSE) Thermo
The MSE model is the most advanced, predictive framework for electrolytes, aqueous and mixed solvents that are produced by OLI systems. MSE is capable of reproducing speciation, chemical and phase equilibria, applicable to water-organic-salt systems and aqueous solutions from dilute solutions to the fused salt limit.
MSE is applicable to the following systems:
- Sulfuric acid plants
- Urea plants
- Gas treating systems using alkanolamines
- Concentrate nitrate systems
- Phase equilibria in refinery column overheads
- Crystallization from organic mixed solvents gas dehydration
