Invensys Process Systems
Field Device Manager
Increase Your Uptime, Performance. The Invensys Field Device Manager is an open toolset used to configure, commission, maintain, and diagnose fieldbus devices throughout their entire lifecycle. It is an add-on extension to the InFusion Engineering Environment. Together the two applications provide a comprehensive, fully integrated engineering & maintenance environment. Its user interfaces & diagnostic capabilities provide the means to increase uptime and performance, & lower maintenance costs of field devices.

Truly Open Technology. Our Field Device Manager is the most open product on the market. It is the first to offer support for FDT & Enhanced EDDL, two technologies enabling device vendors to program device configuration & maintenance content for the host system. Through the Enhanced EDDL language, device vendors create better device descriptors. Enhanced descriptions result in improved layout of configuration pages, a more intuitive commissioning method for creating dialog boxes, & improved on-line viewing of device parameters with new capabilities to have trends & histograms.

Boost Engineering & Maintenance Productivity. Reusable engineering is provided through customizable templates for each device model. The attributes & settings for configuration, upload, download, linked documentation, & setup of on-line views for a given manufacturer & model of device can be engineered once, in the template, and automatically inherited by each individual device. A Commissioning Wizard automates all the steps of device commissioning, making it easy for lesser-skilled personnel to easily replace a failed device.

Eliminate Wasted Maintenance. Many report they spend more than 50% of their device maintenance effort on callouts where no problem is found? Promoters of better predictive maintenance practices refer to this wasted time as “recreational maintenance”. Our Systems Management can alarm on emerging device problems,& FDM enables comprehensive analysis of devices from the control room.

Reductions in Instrument Caused Plant Downtime. FDM enables superior device management; greatly reducing the chance an unexpected device failure can cause plant downtime. Moving to predictive device maintenance approaches helps you spot problems early, before they become severe, giving time to plan corrective action without downtime.

Freedom of Device Vendor Choice. Our support of DD, enhanced DD, and FDT technologies means you use any field device, even if the vendor only embraces the minimum and mandatory DD technology. Our system is the most advanced, and most open, in delivering device GUIs created by the device vendor.
